Atelier Forma and Eric Landon Present a 2-Day TORTUS Wheel-Throwing Masterclass in Montreal

Published

on

Canada, 30th Nov 2024 Atelier Forma is thrilled to announce three exclusive two-day TORTUS masterclasses in collaboration with renowned ceramic artist Eric Landon, scheduled to take place at Atelier Forma’s Montreal studio at 4561 Boulevard Saint-Laurent. These hands-on, skill-enhancing classes will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on January 13 – 14, 15 – 16 and 17 – 18, providing participants with an intensive learning experience that will refine their wheel-throwing techniques and expand their approach to creating large, challenging ceramic forms.

Mastering Wheel-Throwing Techniques with Eric Landon

The TORTUS masterclass, taught entirely in English, is designed specifically for individuals who already have foundational skills in wheel-throwing and are eager to take their craft to the next level. This immersive class offers a unique opportunity to learn directly from Eric Landon, a celebrated ceramicist widely recognized for his mastery of form, precision, and craftsmanship in ceramics. Participants will gain hands-on experience as they practice under Eric’s expert guidance, who will be present throughout both days, providing real-time demonstrations and feedback on the participants’ work.

Focused Demonstrations and Hands-On Practice

Each day of the masterclass begins with morning demonstrations led by Eric Landon. He will introduce participants to a variety of advanced wheel-throwing techniques designed to enhance both efficiency and precision in handling clay. Eric will focus on the specific methods he employs to maximize the potential of the clay, sharing techniques that transform raw materials into elegant, large-scale pieces.

Participants will then be guided to practice these techniques, working on their own pieces under Eric’s direct supervision. In addition to his initial instruction, Eric will offer ongoing demonstrations throughout the class, covering methods for creating larger forms and handling intricate details with skill and finesse.

Personal Greenware Takeaway

At the end of this two-day session, each attendee can select one or two greenware (unfired) pieces to take home. While Atelier Forma is unable to provide firing services for these creations, participants will have a unique, tangible reminder of the techniques and artistic approaches they explored under Eric’s instruction.

Ideal for Intermediate and Advanced Potters

This TORTUS masterclass is specifically tailored for ceramicists who have some prior wheel-throwing experience and are looking to refine their skills further. It is not suitable for complete beginners, ensuring an immersive and technically focused environment for all participants. This class is part of Atelier Forma’s commitment to fostering skill development within Canada’s pottery community, allowing participants to learn from the best in the field of ceramic art.

Sends announced their plan to launch a virtual debit card in 2025

Published

on

In 2025, Sends customers will be able to use a virtual debit card for online payments. A virtual card functions like a regular payment card, with one key difference: it does not have a physical form.

Sends expands the functionality, allowing users to generate virtual cards in the system. Virtual cards are designed for all online payments and are particularly suitable for subscription services like Spotify, Netflix, and other entertainment platforms. They can be used to pay for car rentals, hotels, and transportation. You can also make purchases online and through apps. The cards are issued in collaboration with Mastercard.

Sends cards are linked to the user’s account and include a 16-digit card number, expiration date, and CVV. In addition to the card details, the user has an IBAN and can easily share bank account details with others.

There are plans to connect Sends cards to online wallets and enable payments using mobile services like Google Pay and Apple Pay. The implementation of this feature is scheduled for launch by the end of 2025 or possibly next year.

Shop online with confidence, knowing your security is protected. Physical cards can be misplaced, so be careful when using them. However, with the Sends application, you can easily lock your card anytime.
