With BJIFF TALENTS and Academy Day to be launched for the first time this year, the Closing Ceremonies will witness the revelation of outstanding projects in Project Pitches.

Specifically, it has comprehensively relied on big data, cloud computing, artificial intelligence algorithms and other technological means to promote the digitalized upgrade of the three major transaction platforms of film factors, project pitches, and film copyright. From the online perspective, digital means such as cloud connection, remote transactions, and video conferences are adopted to provide guests and media with a better immersive experience of online participation.
■Theme Forum, Workshop & Masterclass make up a high-end film festival
“Theme Forum”. Six theme forums will be held this year, with rich and pragmatic themes. In addition to celebrating the centenary birthday of the Party, the said themes will highlight content creation, film capital development, overseas distribution, virtual production, animation creation, among other directions, based on industry trends and cutting-edge trends in the past two years.
The 11th BJIFF will also release a series of research results and industry reports concerning film investment and financing, film marketing, art film screenings, etc., to give play to its scientificness, leadership, and authority.
The Workshop & Masterclass will feature four sessions, when well-known filmmakers are invited to share the experience and cutting-edge concepts of film creators.

■The poster theme is “Make Concerted Efforts to Create Light”, paying tribute to the filmmakers and conveying faith
At the great historical moment of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the 11th BJIFF embraces a greater sense of mission and responsibility.
This year’s poster theme is “Make Concerted Efforts to Create Light”, and the design features the core element of last year’s poster – windmill projector. With blades turning and the lights on, the curtain is slowly opening. Above the windmill, a team of filmmakers are working there, including the director, cameramen, lighting staff, recording staff, script supervisor, makeup artists… and the Great Wall, Red Building of Peking University and Beijing swifts hovering in the sky emerge behind the curtains.
Movies are the art that people “Make Concerted Efforts to Create Light”. The theme posters pay tribute not only to all filmmakers making contributions in their own ways, but also to viewers who walk into the theater and spend time seeing the movies.
The Great Wall, Red Building of Peking University and the swifts hovering in the sky deliver profound messages. As a significant symbol of the Chinese nation, the Great Wall embodies the constant vitality of Chinese national spirits. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. Peking University is the center of the New Culture Movement and it is where the May Fourth Movement was planned and launched. Besides, it is an important place for the early spread of Marxism in China and a historical witness to the early revolutionary activities of the Communist Party of China in Beijing. The red color of the Red Building of Peking University, and the long Great Wall symbolize the DNA of the Communist Party of China, and strength of Chinese national spirits. Being the most beautiful life in the summer sky of Beijing, swifts are the most loyal witnesses to this city. The use of these three elements demonstrates the sacred mission of film art as it can remember history and convey faith, leading the viewers from where the seeds were planted in history to where they can see a glorious future.

CGTN: How people’s livelihoods in Xizang have transformed
CGTN publishes an article on the transformation of people’s livelihoods in China’s Xizang Autonomous Region. Through introducing China’s efforts to promote cultural preservation and social inclusion in the region, the article highlights how lives in Xizang have drastically improved over the past decades.
At 24, Nyima Tashi left behind a world of conventional computing from a top university in Shanghai to dive into an uncharted realm at Tibet University in southwest China’s Xizang Autonomous Region. Without any formal training in language technology, his relentless curiosity and determination led him on an epic quest—poring over scarce books, seeking wisdom from seasoned experts, and forging a new path in information processing in the Tibetan language.
At that time, resources of Tibetan language information processing were minimal and outdated, with only a few books available on the subject. This dearth of knowledge and tools in the field fueled Nyima Tashi’s resolve to pioneer solutions that could modernize and preserve the Tibetan language.
In 1992, his team unveiled the region’s very first information software in the Tibetan language, transforming the way official documents and ancient texts were handled. His pioneering spirit didn’t stop there. Five years later, he had ushered in Xizang’s first international internet center, and by 2014, he broke new ground with the launch of a cutting-edge Tibetan smart mobile operating system.
Nowadays in Xizang, mobile phones capable of fully processing Tibetan language information have become the norm, and the development and application of Tibetan language information technology have kept pace with modern advancements.
Promoting the Tibetan language
The story of Nyima Tashi is a microcosm of the remarkable revival of the Tibetan language in Xizang—a revival fueled by increasing everyday usage and bolstered by the central government’s efforts to promote cultural preservation in the region.
For instance, in public administration, all resolutions and regulations adopted by the region’s people’s congress and all general-purpose official documents and public notices released by authorities at all levels in Xizang are published in both standard Chinese and Tibetan, according to a government white paper released on Friday.
The Tibetan language is also widely used in publishing, media and daily life. By the end of 2024, Xizang had 17 periodicals and 11 newspapers in the Tibetan language and had published 46.85 million copies of 8,794 Tibetan-language books, the document noted. In the meantime, new media have been developed in the Tibetan language, including surging official accounts on social media. Their popularity has helped to expand the use of the Tibetan language.
Overall rights improvements
Accompanying the preservation of the Tibetan language is a broader commitment to enhancing the rights and cultural well-being of people in Xizang. Recognizing the importance of cultural identity for the local population, the Chinese government has implemented comprehensive measures to safeguard minority rights and promote social inclusion.
These initiatives—ranging from dual-language public communications to extensive cultural and educational support programs—reflect a steadfast commitment to ensuring that the region’s unique heritage flourishes alongside modern advancements.
Home to over 1,700 sites for the practice of Tibetan Buddhism and approximately 46,000 Buddhist monks and nuns, the region, along with the central government, are committed to safeguarding the freedom of religious belief. They have carried out religious activities, including the succession of living Buddhas of Tibetan Buddhism, in accordance with religious rituals and historical conventions, according to the white paper.
In 2016, an online system was launched to facilitate obtaining information about living Buddhas, allowing users to find out more about religious figures in China. A total of 93 newly reincarnated living Buddhas had been approved and recognized by 2024.
Meanwhile, major advances have been made in protecting the right to education in Xizang. To meet its people’s expectations for high-quality education, the region has significantly increased subsidies covering boarding, lodging and basic study expenses for children from farming and pastoral areas, as well as those from families in urban areas with financial difficulties. Since 2012, these subsidies have been raised 11 times, with the figure currently standing at 5,620 yuan ($773) per student per year, including 1,000 yuan from the nutrition improvement program, the document said.
The region has made historical strides in ensuring universal access to education. By 2024, key educational indicators in Xizang met or exceeded the national average: preschool enrollment reached 91.33 percent, compulsory education completion was 97.86 percent, senior high school enrollment hit 91.56 percent, and higher education enrollment was 57.81 percent. Additionally, the number of college graduates per 100,000 inhabitants nearly doubled from 5,507 in 2010 to 11,019 in 2020.

Press Release
S. Korean PhD Engineer Transforms Paralysis into Innovation with Rehab Tech
“If my struggle can become hope for countless patients, that’s the greatest reward for me.”
In the fall of 2014, Dr. Hoon-kyu Choi, a KAIST electronic engineering graduate, faced what seemed like a life-shattering crisis. A climbing accident left him suddenly paralyzed from head to toe, and his future looked bleak. Yet even in despair, his determination to use his expertise to create a path of hope for rehabilitation patients led him on a journey of recovery and innovation.
Birth of Rehabilitation Medical Device from Total Paralysis
During his rehabilitation therapy, Dr. Choi directly experienced the practical challenges faced by rehabilitation patients. He found that patients couldn’t properly understand their recovery status, and data-driven therapy was virtually non-existent. “Walking means more than just a means of movement. It’s directly connected to human dignity and quality of life,” he says. This insight became the driving force behind his innovative invention, PediSol.
PediSol is an insole-type balance and gait analyzer with 80 high-precision pressure sensors that can evaluate gait analysis, balance measurement, and lower limb muscle condition in real-time. This device is not only suitable for patients struggling with rehabilitation and walking issues but has also become a valuable tool for athletes seeking to improve performance and for the elderly in health management.
Opening New Horizons in Rehabilitation with Affordability
Unlike existing expensive rehabilitation equipment, PediSol is economical enough for anyone to use at home. Providing real-time graphical data of the patient’s condition, PediSol gives patients a visual tool to monitor their current status and treatment progress. Dr. Choi’s vision to “create a world where everyone can walk healthily” is being realized through this smart healthcare device.
Global Challenge Created Through Innovation
Today, that once-distant vision is becoming a reality—changing lives through smart technology. PediSol is transforming the rehabilitation therapy paradigm beyond being just a medical device. Patients no longer need to visit hospitals frequently and can accurately diagnose and manage their rehabilitation status at home. The ability to monitor continuously without time and place constraints has greatly improved the efficiency and accessibility of rehabilitation therapy.
“Every difficulty is a starting point for new opportunities.” The story of Dr. Hoon-kyu Choi, who overcame disability and planted seeds of hope for countless patients, proves the greatness of human will to rise again even in despair. His innovative invention, PediSol, is now changing the lives of many people and opening a new chapter in rehabilitation.
